TEDx Westminster: a World Cup talk that never stands still

A TEDx Westminster talk on how the U.S. can win more than the 2026 World Cup. We designed and animated slides that carry the argument from pay-to-play youth sport to the Uruguay model, with every slide moving on cue.

Talk title slide “How the U.S. Can Win the World Cup”: hands raising the trophy inside a red frame

The challenge

A TEDx talk is one speaker, one idea and no second take. This one had to carry statistics, two youth-sport systems side by side and a call to action, and keep a live audience with it from the first slide to the last.

The slides also had to stay readable from the back of the room while the speaker kept talking.

Inside the deck

“The Uruguay Model” slide: titles won and population in cards, beside the national flag and a map

The Uruguay Model: a country smaller than Washington, D.C., with two World Cups, told in four numbers beside its flag.

Our approach

  1. 01

    Built for the stage

Every slide sits in the TEDx red frame with one headline and few words, so the audience listens to the speaker and reads only the point.

  2. 02

    Motion on cue

Entrance effects, motion paths and Morph transitions reveal each point as it is said, so nothing appears before the speaker gets there.

  3. 03

    Numbers people feel

Statistics become pictures: 5 out of 8 people watching the World Cup, maps of countries that treat play as a right, and the U.S. and Uruguay systems side by side.

“The Big Stage” slide: the coming World Cup beside a world map highlighting the host countries
“The Cost of Overconformity” slide: a footballer mid-kick between points on winning at all costs
Call to action slide: a coach with a clipboard in a school gym, with a line on subsidising sports access
“A Different Kind of Victory” slide: fans celebrating in a stadium under fireworks

Design craft

  • Designed for the stage

The TEDx red frame, one headline and few words, readable from the back of the room.

  • Motion on cue

Entrances, motion paths and Morph transitions reveal each point as it is said.

  • Data people feel

Statistics turned into pictures, maps and side-by-side comparisons.

What we delivered

  1. 01

A talk that holds the room

Slides move with the speaker, so attention never drops.

  2. 02

    A complex argument made simple

Policy and statistics turned into a clear, visual story.

  3. 03

On brand from first slide to last

A polished presentation that sits naturally on the TEDx stage.
